Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani has welcomed the US strikes targeting armed groups in northwest Nigeria but warned the country against relying on foreign military intervention. In a statement on X, Sani described the strike as a “conscionable action”, adding that “the ultimate security and peace in our country lies with ourselves and not with the US or any foreign power”. “They can complementarily or unilaterally strike, but they can’t eternally fight our battles,” the official, who represents the Kaduna Central district, said.
