Kamil El Tayeb Idris, Sudan’s transitional Prime Minister supported by the army, vowed on Thursday to keep fighting until rival paramilitary forces were defeated. “Our sovereignty and territorial integrity are red lines. We will never give up. I promise you, we will never give up,” Mr Idris told the UN General Assembly in New York. This month, his government rejected a new peace plan proposed by the US and other countries, insisting that only the Sudanese people could decide the future of their country.
