France is expected to formally recognize Palestinian statehood today, alongside nine other states at a UN conference co-chaired with Saudi Arabia.The kingdom will be represented by its Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.The UK, Canada, Australia and Portugal announced on Sunday that they now recognise the state of Palestine. France is one of six other states – Belgium, Malta, Luxembourg, San Marino and Andorra are the others – that will be making the same declaration in New York City today. The conference, which begins at 3pm local time (11pm in the UAE), is a highlight of the first day of the high-level General Assembly.
