Gaza has received its first shipment of fuel in 130 days, the UN said on Thursday. A UN team moved about 75,000 litres of fuel into Gaza on Wednesday, the bloc’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters,. But Mr Dujarric said that the amount “isn’t sufficient to cover even one day of energy requirements”. “Fuel is still running out and services will shut down if far greater volumes do not enter immediately,” he said. Palestinian officials in Gaza have said the shortage of fuel was affecting the functioning of hospitals, desalination plants and the water supply.
