Israel has targeted an Iranian fighter jet hangar at Mehrabad airport in an early morning attack, reports Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA. “The attacks caused explosions at the airport but did not affect any runways, buildings or facilities,” the agency said. Iranian air defence systems engaged in “fending off the hostile attacks at dawn”, it added. Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on Israel into Saturday morning, killing at least two people and wounding dozens after a series of Israeli attacks. Iran and Israel targeted each other with missiles and airstrikes early on Saturday after Israel launched its biggest-ever air offensive against its longtime enemy.
