France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expects Israel to release four French activists who were aboard a Gaza-bound aid boat by the end of the week. The activists, who hoped to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation in the enclave, were intercepted by Israeli security forces on Tuesday. While Swedish environmentalist Greta Thunberg agreed to be deported immediately with three others, Israel held eight crew members. These include Rima Hassan, a member of European Parliament from the hard-left France Unbowed party, who is of Palestinian descent.
