The desalination plant in Deir el-Balah is now running on solar panels and generators. It has some fuel stored, but as soon as it runs out, it will only be able to run on solar panels. Right now, it can only produce about 2,500 cubic metres (660,000 gallons) of water, compared with 18,000 (about 5 million gallons) before Israel cut off its electricity. This could deprive more than 500,000 Palestinians, who are completely reliant on this desalination point, from clean drinking water. Keep in mind we already have a history of disease outbreaks stemming from unclean water.
