German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has said the Gaza Strip belongs to Palestinians, and their expulsion would be unacceptable and contrary to international law. “It would also lead to new suffering and new hatred,” said Ms Baerbock. “There must be no solution over the heads of the Palestinians,” she added. Ms Baerbock was reacting to comments by US President Donald Trump, who said on Tuesday when he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington that his country could “take over” the enclave, with its Palestinian residents resettled elsewhere.
