Australia has issued its first sanctions against Israeli settlers for violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, days after Japan introduced similar measures. Seven individuals and the Hilltop youth group were named by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Thursday. “These individuals have been involved in violent attacks on Palestinians, including things such as beating, sexual assault and torture, resulting in serious injury and in some cases death,” Ms Wong told Australian radio on Thursday.
