Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance, said that firms were established for investment purposes with the consent of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), but that they were dissolved between 2014 and 2015, and that no bank account was opened for them and no transactions were conducted.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin told Dunya News that the firms were established while Tariq Malik was working for the Bin Laden gang. He stated that he received formal clearance to invest in his bank.
