Hamas was responsible for the suffering caused by the Gaza war, Israel told the International Court of Justice. Israeli representative Tamar Kaplan Tourgeman said allegations of genocide lodged by South Africa failed to mention the violence and hostage-taking carried out by the militant group. “We have hardly heard the word Hamas [from South Africa], even though it is Hamas that has brought about all the suffering and pain that we are witnessing,” she said.
