Talks between Hamas and Israel to end the war in Gaza have hit a stumbling block as the militant group has reportedly raised several objections to proposals raised this week. Hamas’s main objection to the proposals was over the return of the displaced and the absence of a firm reference to a permanent ceasefire after an initial six-week truce, sources told The National. The proposals provide for a gradual return of the displaced to northern Gaza, with Israel adamant it would allow only 2,000 a day, excluding military-aged men, to return home during the six-week truce.
