US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin called Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant to “reiterate US support” in the country’s war on Gaza. Mr Austin emphasised that US backing for “Israel’s right to defend itself and the importance of ensuring uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza”, Pentagon press secretary Maj Gen Pat Ryder said. The senior officials also discussed diplomacy regarding developments on the Lebanon-Israel border.
