The EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell warned that emotions were “running very high” as the Israel-Gaza war intensifies. He warned that this could create a spiral of violence in Europe too. “We can’t have that, because security on our streets depends on us preventing that,” Borrell told European politicians during a debate in Strasbourg. “Geopolitics depends on us preventing that conflict,” he added.
