Israel’s president Isaac Herzog said that the public was undergoing a “crisis of trust” towards the government, as it carried out strikes on Gaza and worked to release the more than 150 hostages taken by Hamas since October 7. “The people demand responsibility and the restoration of trust and rehabilitation of affected communities. They demand to be heard; they demand a helping hand,” Mr Herzog said, speaking at the Knesset. He accused some sides of attempting to “sow seeds of division and hatred” amid the ongoing situation.
