Al Jazeera spoke to the mother of a young Palestinian girl severely wounded during Israel’s war on Gaza and is desperately awaiting a medical evacuation through the Rafah crossing for treatment. Shimaa Abu Rida said her daughter, Jumana al-Najjar, was injured on August 10 last year when she suffered a perforating wound through her abdomen. As a result her liver, kidneys, and intestines were severely damaged. The family received a phone call from the World Health Organisation saying to get ready for travel. “We pray to God Almighty she will be treated and get her life back to normal,” Abu Rida said while still waiting for her daughter’s medical evacuation.
