Hardline US Senator Lindsey Graham has urged President Trump to escalate pressure on Iran’s leadership while crediting him with destabilising governments elsewhere. Addressing Trump directly, Graham said Venezuela was “going to be free because of you”, adding “Cuba is next,” before claiming the “biggest prize” of Trump’s presidency would be the “demise of the Iranian state led by the Ayatollah”. Calling on Trump to “stand behind the people”, Graham said fulfilling that promise would secure his place in history, comparing him favourably to Ronald Reagan.
