The US has sanctioned International Criminal Court president Tomoko Akane and trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, claiming the move is to protect Americans, although the ICC has never charged a US citizen. Seye is investigating alleged Israeli war crimes in Gaza. Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, said: “I strongly encourage every A3C member to leave the ICC.” The “A3C” or “Americas Counter Cartel Coalition” consists of the United States and 19 other countries in the Americas.
