US mediator Bishara Bahbah says Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is “playing a dangerous role” in the ceasefire negotiations for Gaza. The US official also said US President Donald Trump was keen for a ceasefire, once struck, to mean the end of hostilities in Gaza, in comments to Al Arabiya. US and Israeli officials had blamed Hamas for the stalled truce talks and said they would find “alternative” ways to bring the hostages home.
