US special envoy Steve Witkoff is on his way to the Middle East, the State Department announced. Secretary of State Marco Rubio “noted that special envoy Witkoff is heading to the region now, to the Gaza are”, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said. She did not say who Mr Witkoff was expected to meet. The trip comes amid rising concerns over the distribution of aid into Gaza as humanitarian agencies warn of the threat of famine.
