US envoy Thomas Barrack has said he was “unbelievably satisfied” with Lebanon’s 15-point response to a proposed plan to disarm Hezbollah. Mr Barrack, speaking after meeting with President Joseph Aoun, said a “period of reflection” was required as he urged Lebanon to seize an opportunity for change and a “chance for peace”. “We just had an amazingly interesting and satisfactory meeting. We are grateful for the speed and balanced tone in the Lebanese response to our proposals,” said Mr Barrack, who is the US ambassador to Turkey and special envoy for Syria.
