Russia and China vetoed a US-backed draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council on a ceasefire in Gaza, with Moscow accusing Washington of a “hypocritical spectacle” that does not pressure Israel. Russia and China both exercised their veto against the resolution, which called for an “immediate and sustained ceasefire” lasting roughly six weeks that would protect civilians and allow for the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
