The UN mission stationed in southern Lebanon, UNIFIL, has accused Israel of violating a UN resolution by carrying out a series of air attacks in the country’s south yesterday. The attacks took place in the villages of Marounah, Majadel, and Baraashit, it said. “These actions are clear violations of Security Council resolution 1701. We urge the Israel Defense Forces [Israeli army] to avail of the liaison and coordination mechanisms available to them,” it said, cautioning “Lebanese actors” against any reactions that could aggravate the situation further.
