The UN Culture Agency (Unesco) said that it was “gravely concerned” about the effect of the war in Gaza on its schools and education sector. It said launching strikes on schools or using them for military purposes are breaches of international law. “Today, more than 625,000 pupils and more than 22,500 teachers in the area are in an extremely vulnerable situation,” Unesco said in a statement.
