On Dec 27, a senior U.N. official called on Myanmar authorities to interrogate the killing of at least 35 civilians. The opposition activist blamed the massacre of government soldiers and said that he was “horrified” at the violence. Martin Griffiths, U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator asserted that reports of the killing of civilians, including at least one child, were ‘credible’.
