On Feb 28, Facebook-owner Meta Platforms (FB.O) said that a hacking group used Facebook to target a modicum of public figures in Ukraine, entailing prominent military officials, politicians and a journalist, amidst Russian invasion of the country. Meta revealed that in the last 48 hours it had also separately removed a network of about 40 fake accounts, groups and pages across Facebook and Instagram for violating its rules against coordinated inauthentic behavior. The fake accounts were operated from Russia and Ukraine but targeted people in Ukraine.
