Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy joined the EU in condemning an Israeli minister who said it could be “justified and moral” to starve the people of Gaza. The UK expected Israel’s government to “retract and condemn” the remarks by far-right Finance Minister Belazel Smotrich, which have “no justification”, Mr Lammy said. “International law could not be more clear – the deliberate starvation of civilians is a war crime,” the UK minister added.
