UK Armed Forces Minister James Heappey played down concerns about the danger of escalation, after criticism from Russia. He conceded that there could be “nervousness” in the region after the US and UK launched strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen overnight. Speaking during the morning media round, Mr Heappey said the UK and US foreign secretaries had been engaged in a “constant dialogue around the region to make sure we understand fully what the escalatory risks could be and the allies and partners around the region understand what we feel we may need to do if those attacks were to continue”.
