Thousands of people in India’s north-eastern Manipur state fled their villages after their houses were burnt down following deadly clashes between a tribal and non-tribal community. At least 60 people had been killed, more than 230 injured and 1,700 houses burnt to the ground after unrest between Christian tribes and a Hindu group, state Chief Minister N Biren Singh reported. More than 20,000 people had been left stranded in shelters run by army and civil rights groups, Mr. Singh said.
