Israel has said there is “no food shortage” in Gaza and that “significant quantities” of flour and baby food have arrived in the strip in recent days. An aid co-ordination unit at Israel’s Defence Ministry said the deliveries had been carried out to “prevent any shortages”, after a total blockade on supplies entering Gaza that lasted for 11 weeks.
It accused the UN of turning to “Hamas-driven false narratives” by saying that Gazans were on the brink of famine, after humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warned 14,000 babies were at risk of death.
