Cape Town: On Jan 2, it was reported that the fire at the South African parliament caused substantial damage. The roof was collapsed and an entire floor was gutted in one building; the firefighters partially contained the blaze after several hours. Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia De Lille informed reporters that there were no reports of any injuries or casualties. The cause of the fire was not yet known.
