Following the failure of negotiations with the IMF, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif has stated that the government should cancel the price hike.

The government’s strategy, according to Shahbaz Sharif, is to deal with inflation first, then negotiate with the IMF. Accepting all of the IMF’s conditions first, then negotiating with the IMF, is the government’s strategy.

The country should be informed that the PML-N, led by Nawaz Sharif, concluded the IMF programme in 2015.
