Russia will close Goethe-Institut branches in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg following Germany’s decision to shut the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday. Speaking in Vladivostok, Lavrov also denied Russian involvement in a drone incident at Leipzig Airport earlier in August. He said Berlin acted on the assumption that the drone resembled those used by Russia, calling the decision an end to Germany’s cultural presence in Russia.
