Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that “serious partners” were needed for peace as the fate of months-long Gaza ceasefire negotiations remains uncertain. It comes after Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran. “Political assassinations and continued targeting of civilians in Gaza while talks continue leads us to ask, how can mediation succeed when one party assassinates the negotiator on the other side?” Sheikh Mohammed, who is also Qatar’s Foreign Minister, wrote on X.
