Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is also foreign minister, spoke by phone to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and discussed continuing work towards a ceasefire in Gaza, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has said. The call follows the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Qatar, Egypt and the United States have acted as mediators seeking a ceasefire in the Gaza war.
