Following many complaints, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) asked local television broadcasters to “stop showing caress and hug scenes” in plays on Friday.
According to PEMRA, a “major stratum of society” believes that plays do not portray the “real picture” of Pakistani society.
“Hugs/caress scenes/extramarital relations, vulgar/bold dressing, bed scenes, and intimacy of married couple are being glamorized in utter disregard to Islamic teachings and culture of Pakistani society,” the notification said.
