The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has condemned the “arbitrary” decision by Israel to revoke visas for Australian diplomats accredited to the Palestinian Authority. “This revocation constitutes a clear violation of international law governing diplomatic immunity and the conduct of foreign relations … and represents a breach of customary international law regarding diplomatic courtesy and the proper treatment of foreign envoys,” the ministry said in a statement. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar revoked the visas on Monday. It comes after Canberra cancelled an Israeli lawmaker’s visa and said it would recognise a Palestinian state.
