World Health Organisation Emergency Medical Teams co-ordinator Sean Casey said that Palestinian civilians in Gaza are “crying out for the basics of life”. After a five-week mission in the Gaza Strip, Mr Casey painted a grim picture, highlighting severe food shortages and a collapsing health infrastructure. “I’ve seen the health system collapsing. There were 36 hospitals in Gaza a couple of months ago. Today there are 15 or 16 that … are minimally or partially functioning,” he told reporters in New York.
