The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has condemned right-wing Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s invasion of Al Aqsa Mosque compound and called for international intervention to protect holy sites. The ministry said in a statement that the move comes as part “ongoing incursions” into the mosque and efforts towards “Judaisation” of the area and “emptying it of its original owners”. Mr Ben-Gvir said he prayed at the site, where Jewish worship is forbidden under a status-quo agreement with Jordan, against a “reckless deal” to end the war.
