According to the World Bank, Pakistan requires an integrated and long-term reform strategy to address the export problem, which will necessitate coordination across government agencies at the federal and provincial levels to harmonise policy decisions, institutional strengthening to ensure effective implementation, and active public-private sector dialogue to ensure the broadest possible support for reforms.
According to the World Bank’s ‘Pakistan Development Update: Reviving Exports’ report, imports have expanded far faster than exports in recent months due to stronger local demand, resulting in a substantial trade deficit.
