20 people were killed after an earthquake slammed Pakistan’s Balochistan province early on Thursday.

According to authorities, the death toll could rise, as many people were killed when buildings collapsed.

According to the Reuters news agency, many of the victims were women and children.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake had a magnitude of 5.9 and occurred at a shallow depth of 9 kilometres. Shallow quakes have the potential to do more harm.
