The White Helmets, Syria’s civil defence force, said it found “no toxic gases” at the site of an Israeli attack in Damascus that hit the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Centre on Monday night. The group said it had put out a fire in the area and there were no cases of suffocation among civilians. The research centre, which has sanctions imposed on it, had previously struck for its links to chemical weapon production under toppled Syrian president Bashar Al Assad.
