Israel has no motivation to end strikes on Iran, Kenneth McKenzie, former head of US Central Command, said on Monday. “Iran is struggling to find a lever to give them to cause Israel to want to do that, but unless they choose to widen the war … [through] an attack on us, an attack on Sunni neighbours in the region, blocking the Strait of Hormuz – all of those things are going to tend to only increase pressure, ultimately, against the Iranian regime,” Mr McKenzie said. The former commander of the US military in the region was speaking during an event hosted by the Middle East Institute think tank.
