Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rebuked a senior cabinet minister who arrived in Washington on Sunday for talks with US officials, a sign of widening cracks within the Israeli government after five months of war in Gaza. Benny Gantz, a centrist political rival who joined Mr Netanyahu’s wartime cabinet after the October 7 attacks, comes as friction between the US and Mr Netanyahu is rising over the Gaza conflict. An official from Mr Netanyahu’s far-right Likud party said Mr. Gantz’s trip was not authorized by the Israeli leader.
