The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has passed a grim milestone – with more than 40,000 people now confirmed killed in Israeli attacks since the war began in October. In its daily update on Thursday afternoon, Gaza’s Health Ministry said 40,005 people have now been confirmed dead after 40 were killed in Israeli strikes over the previous 24 hours. The vast majority – at least 70 percent – of the dead were women and children, the ministry said.
