The Lebanese Army has insisted it will continue to carry out its duties despite recent Israeli attacks that led to the death of two soldiers. The army said history showed that the forces formed the “backbone of Lebanon”. It added that soldiers continued to be stationed across Lebanon, including the areas that border Israel. It said that troops have been subjected to intense shelling, and remained in close co-ordination with the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
