Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza announced that he was evacuating Gaza after three months of war. “I had to evacuate for a lot of reasons, you all know some of it but not all of it. Thank you all. Pray for Gaza,” he wrote on Instagram. “I decided to evacuate today. Hopefully soon, I will come back and help to build Gaza again,” he said in a video as his friends removed his press jacket. He was named GQ Middle East’s “Man of the Year 2023” for his harrowing coverage of the Gaza war, posted online to his 18.2 million followers.
