Jordan’s Foreign Ministry condemned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s call on Monday to establish sovereignty over settlements in the occupied West Bank. Mr Smotrich told reporters in Jerusalem before a weekly meeting of his Religious Zionism party’s Knesset faction, that the return of Donald Trump as US president presented an “important opportunity” to “apply Israeli sovereignty to the settlements” in the occupied Palestinian territory.
