The Israeli military says its outgoing chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, will travel to the US on an official visit from Monday to Thursday. Halevi, who is due to step down on March 6, will meet senior US commanders “to discuss key strategic and operational issues”, a military statement said. He resigned in late January, citing “terrible” security and intelligence failures related to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel.
