The Israeli army said on Friday its air force struck approximately 40 Hamas “gathering points”, as well as “command and control centres” in the Gaza Strip over the past day. In a statement, the military claimed that dozens of militants who had planned and executed attacks against Israeli troops and citizens had operated from within these areas. It said that some of the targets struck were embedded in areas that previously served as schools.
